mercury amounts & repairs

>>This also brings up the question of mercury repairs. I have a very, very
money conscious boss that thinks that repairing is cheaper than making a
 new unit. While I am very aware of the dangers, he doesn't seem to care
about this. It's hard to refuse to repair them if he's the boss, but I try
 as often as I can to make new units. I've given him the rap (my health and
my co-workers), including the wear on the manifold/pump doing mercury
 repairs (which also boils down to cost) - he doesn't seem too concerned;
 he's a bit from the <OLD> school.<<

   Do what we do. We have a glass pipe that we made. Everytime someone insists
on us doing a mercury repair, we pull it out and say, "Okay, we'll take a drop
of mercury and put it in this pipe. If you will put that pipe over a torch and
smoke it we will do your repairs, because that is what you are asking us to
do." It is a rather graphic demonstration and we haven't had any takers yet!
