John, I've had some experience with buying glass... for the most part, the shipping order includes some kind of insurance in the buying price. If the company you are ordering from refuses to ship you a better packaged batch of ruby red (one of my faves) then take your business elsewhere. I'm sure you will be able to find a shipper who will sell to you for list price, and include insurance in the bargain. Jo
