In the installations I have repaired, in fact the one I was just finishing
recently when I got so disgusted I couldn't stand it last time, the midpoint
grounding used in metal conduit was used and was indistinguishable in it's
bad results from any other method, in other words, the wire still fries the
same way. I can't see any perceptible difference in this method, and all the
trumpeting of this method mystifies me. To me, it solves nothing, you still
have the same voltage extremes somewhere in the circuit, just somewhere else
than you had before -- so what? Am I missing something here?
On the other hand, non-metallic installations DO solve something and do it
extremely well in every case I have tried them.
