Re: Mercury clean up

Story when I was at grad school at Tech was that one day someone spilled a
bottle of mercury on a lab table and it flowed into an electric outlet on a
plugstrip and when it shorted out the 110 current it exploded and vaporized
the entire bottle. The Hazmat boys came in with the full body suits on that
one, and the lab was closed for several days until the vapor all condensed
and they could clean it up. It's the vapor that kills you when you breathe
it. By the way, what do you suppose happens when you break a mercury tube
when it's running?
