Thom,

I would advise you to use some flowers of sulphur as a
sweeping compound for your floor, perhaps sprinkle a fair
quantity around and then let it all sit awhile, then gently
sweep. Also don't worry overmuch, you can't change what's
happened in the past, but you can clean things up and not let
it happen again in the future.

(BTW, NEVER vaccuum the floor in a neon shop as this will tend
to vaporize mercury a LOT. Unless you have a special vaccuum
made just for mercury, but those tend to be small and for spot
pick-up only.)

In future, don't let blue repairs in the door (no point if you
won't be repairing them) and this should solve the problem
pretty much entirely.

There is an issue with new blue units that may break in the
shop, however, and the best you can do there is
1) make sure that the small amounts of mercury you put in the
units adheres well to the electrode shells, and
2) try to keep these to a specific area of your shop, perhaps
with a plastic dropcloth on the floor in that location.
