Here's how it works. Pump a tube with neon and mercury. Notice that if you light the tube with a test coil it will be red. Use a conventional transformer and it is blue. You can alternate back and forth red blue red blue. If you do this at a fast enough rate the color will appear to fade from one to the other. It has to do with current density. Jacob
