I've been seeing more and more LED signs lately. The ironic thing is that for all their touted benefits, I'm seeing a surprising number of dead segments, and none of these can be very old. A quality piece of neon can last many decades, most high brightness LEDs are rated 50K-100K hours, but they often fail much sooner than that, especially the Chinese ones.

Seems most people don't care about quality anymore though, they will happily spend 10x as much over the long term as long as they get their cheap instant gratification.
