Do you really think venting mercury vapor outdoors is a good idea? You may want to think that idea through a little more. And any type of trap containing mercury would have to be handled as toxic waste.

There are ways to do it and keep your manifold and pumps clean, but that still doesn't solve the problem of mercury vapor being released from the old glass while heating it in a fire. How do you propose to do that?
