--------        John, the over heating of electrodes is a phenomenon we
noticed when experimenting with high ma (150) electronic power supplies. The
electrodes were more than ample, however we actually had the electrodes
glowing red. The supply seemed to be heating the electrodes as an induction
heater would do. There may be something more to this than just higher
current. I don't want to get started on the 110 C. rule for caps. This is
ridiculously low as we all know. It is so close to the operating temp. of the
electrodes that they could melt as soon as the units begin to fail or as you
saw, when the shells overheat for any reason. David Ablon
