Re: How much should I charge this guy?

If someone brought me glass and electrodes I'd offer to sell him my old
crossfires and a flask of gas.

One of my favorites is the customer who tells me he has an easy job for me.

I responded to the last one who said my price was too high by saying "based
on what?"

We've all been here, and likely we will again no matter how successful..
There are slimeballs in all walks of life. There is also good business out
there at all levels. I think it's important to learn to not sell price. I
sell the product and the service. If someone says "can't you do better?" I
ask them what part of the project they would like me to take out.

I would like to tell them that they can get the work cheaper elsewhere - but
that it will probably not be guaranteed, it will not be wired correctly or
safely, and that you may not find that company 3 months from now when the
sign burns out.
However, I don't want to be negative and in fact I really might want to push
this customer onto my slimey competition. They are meant for eachother.

Oh yeah, don't forget the great line "This job will bring you a lot of
business."

The answer is "Great! I'll pay you a commission. Now let's make this the
best job possible by not cutting corners. I want your restuarant to be a
showcase for all that future business."

Stop me - I could go on for days.
