If you go to pottery supply places you can pick up some stuff called KO wool (or something like that) It is a thick ( up to 3") blanket like material used for making kilns. You should be able to use sheet metal and a layer or two of this stuff. It is expensive so you might ask if there are scrap pieces that they can sell cheeper and then piece them together. good luck, Dan
