metal vs. glass diff pumps

>Could you explain the pros and cons of glass diffussion pumps vs. metal

With glass you can see what the pump is doing, and the general state of
cleanliness inside. Glass pumps tend to cost less, be air cooled, and hook
up readily to neon manifolds.

Metal pumps are obviously less fragile, but tend to come larger-bore and
water cooled, requiring adapting for a neon setup. Metal pumps are far more
common on the used-vacuum-equipment circuit; glass pumps are more what neon
distributors typically offer.
