Hi Bill!

If your circuit resembles our old kind of tester, you may wish to check capacitor between buzzer contacts and primary of HV coil. Still, the coil itself may be shot, or just some loose wires.

New capacitor shall be relatively heavy-duty, think modern-days 600V polypropilene is ok.
