In Response To: air pump (John Dragun)

Spec PDF for that blower: http://pumps.rapidservice.com/Asset/dvjwhispair_spec_s5582aqq.pdf

If you're running natural gas, you need 10 parts air to 1 part gas for neutral combustion. Natural gas is 1000 BTU per cubic foot, so to get 1000 BTU/hour, you need 10 cubic feet of air per hour.

A set of neon torches running full bore is about 150,000 BTU/hour (figures vary; so does usage; this is an estimate.)

150,000 BTU = 150 cubic feet of gas, neutrally combusted = 1,500 cubic feet of air per hour = 25 cubic feet per minute.

According to the above PDF, your blower will produce ~47 CFM at 2400 RPM. It looks like you're spinning it at around 800 RPM. Here's a pulley calc: http://www.blocklayer.com/pulley-belteng.aspx

If the shaft diameters are the same, it looks like oyu could just swap the motor pulley for the blower pulley and hit ~3k RPM, which is less than the maximum for your blower.

If you're running propane, neutral combustion is closer to 24 air : 1 gas.
