Metal manifold issue

I'm hoping someone will have some input on a Thompson brass manifold that a friend of mine has to use at his job . It has been a long time reliable system and the owner wants to keep it going! Here's what happened . The owner decided to put new O rings on the valves and then grease them . He used a very ancient tube of Parker O Lube I think it's called . Well now when they pump a unit you probably know what's happening . Regular red tubes will not burn in or take forever to do so . My bender friend thinks that this is what the problem really is . Any ideas are appreciated . Thanks
