It's more likely to be the thermocouple clamp gone bad rather than the gauge. I use the EGL gauge too. The TC usually lasts about a year to two years before going bad and sending false readings (usually low) or no readings where the gauge just zeros out or flashes. It's usually the little sensor wire embedded in the gum rubber.
