Roots pump

I have an ANCIENT roots blower for my air. I have no idea what brand or model as it is outside in a little house and I cannot see a plate or anything on it in the front. Come spring I can get it out and look closer. The unit threw a shaft locking pin, sheered it right off, now the drive shaft slot is chewed up. I made a new pin as the spares I had are way to small now that the shaft slot is out of whack. It held all day today, but I know it's only a matter of time before she lets loose again.
I just got a 5hp 60gal air compressor and I am thinking that I could set that up to use while I break the roots pump down and rebuild and hopefully get a new shaft. I am wondering if anyone out there has done any of the above, using a big compressor for air, and rebuild a roots pump and where to get parts for these....
