Gavin,

You are precisely correct about the 80's/90's rendition of Masonlite ring seal electrodes. Who knows what they looked like before that time period? I'm sure someone does, but I doubt they look at this board (assuming they are still alive).

That aside, in all honesty it sounded like you were correcting my comments. To reiterate what I said: "Masonlite made them at least through the late 1980's / early 1990's, although this one looks like it may be much older." I never even implied they were Masonlite, but they may very well be considering Peter Mason started making electrodes long before 1980. His market was Europe, where, at the time, they seemed to have liked the soda glass ring seal electrodes with a long glass jacket.

Something you may not know is, when Peter first started making electrodes he sourced the metal shells from EGL. It was a hand shake "Gentlemen's Agreement" with the understanding that Peter would not sell to the US market. That lasted until the mid 80's when Peter decided to take advantage of the rapidly growing US market and tried to get around his agreement with EGL by establishing an agreement with Transco (Masonlite only sold to Transco and Transco would sell to the US market, not Masonlite). Needless to say, EGL look at it as Masonlite selling to the US market (regardless of Peter's attempted scheme) and immediately stopped supplying Peter with shells. That threw quite a wrench into Masonlite's electrode production for a while, as well as the Masonlite/Transco deal.

But I digress. Other models of Masonlite electrodes have gone through various changes over the years, so there is no reason to think their ring seal models didn't go through changes as well. I agree that the ring seal electrodes in the picture are probably not Masonlite, but they might be too.

Cheers,
Mark
