In Response To: Dip Tank Question (DanG)

Unless you're a glutton for punishment, I'd stick to water-based paint for dipping. It can be extra messy.

We use a series of different sized plastic, resealable containers and can do most dipping in them. We have dedicated containers for black, white and grey.

If you experiment, you'll be surprised at how good you'll get. By tipping a long, deep container, you can get most of an averaged sized unit in there. You have to be clever about angling and rotating the unit this way and that.

For larger units and back dipping, we have several aluminum roasting pans that serve as temporary tanks. Pour enough paint in them for the job and, when done, empty it out and brush out the remaining paint before it starts to dry on the edges. You'll recover a very high percentage of your paint with little loss.
