Gavin,

Other than the under loaded aspect, you've just answered your own question. If the transformer is made correctly there is no reason why you should not be able to mix gases and sizes on the same transformer and not have the issues mentioned. I have been selling NeonPro brand transformers for about 1-1/2 years now. I have sold thousands and have never received any of the complaints you mentioned, and the failure (defect) rate has literally been less than 0.1%. NeonPro will tell you less than 1%, but my experience has been better than that. I certainly don't know what you paid for the ones you purchased, but you may have gotten what you paid for. NeonPro may cost a little more, but you will not have the problems mentioned. That has to be worth something considering your current situation, as it sounds like the company you dealt with is not going to warranty them or offer a believable explanation or resolution.

On the other hand, you can pay too much and not get anything more or better for the extra money. For example, in my opinion, "V" brand is WAY over priced. They certainly don't have a better success rate, but often cost at least twice that of something like a NeonPro of comparable output.
