Correction: Dean did not invent the automatic ribbon burner. Transco's former parent company Colite did (and there could have been someone before that point). Colite/Transco sold the plans and remaining components to Dean. Dean did refine it somewhat (although not very much) and started selling them to neon shops (mostly his students at first). Daco then purchased the rights from Dean and refined it more. Unfortunately, due to the type of air blower used, these burners do not flow enough air to supply a 24" head adequately.

If anyone is interested I have several of the automatic 16" burners available for a very reasonable price.

Personally, I use an end-mount 24" ribbon burner (Haydu Bros.) I can adjust it down to about 1.5" length, so I never saw the need for a 6" head. Those with a center mount 24" head can use it as an end-mount simply by making a single slide that goes the full length of the burner head.
