I like working off one end of the ribbon, so the the 16" works fine for me. I have the 24" but rarely have enough big stuff to work on.
The guy who taught me neon, Dean Blazek from Antigo, Wisconsin invented an all in one design ribbon burner , blower / gas / spark lighter with a foot pedal. You hit the pedal it lights , you do your bend , hit the pedal it turns off.

Dean frowned on using the ribbon for double backs, cheating he called it maybe. Its faster maybe with 15mm or larger , but the outside of the bend can get thin. I kinda figured that's where one of these 6" heads would be used,,,
I think the novelty term also might have come from Dean. If you're bending alot of glass and putting out a variety of units the 6" head will be on display on the shelf. But its a free country use what you like . Our plant used to put out over a hundred units a day , a 6" ribbon head wouldn't have fit into that demand. Just the way it was. My one bench / art neon plant ? It still doesn't fit in, the 16" perfectly fine.
