In Response To: Re: Mercury - playing safely at home (Romarrk)

BTW after some serious brainstorming I think I found a way to pump a tube with a little mercury in a way I *almost* feel acceptable at home, just by modifying standard procedure. And without over-complicating things, too

I will use two tubulated electrodes and splice mercury trap to a dead end opposite to manifold. That way, if almost anything fails (including most possible - tube cracking on bombarding) the air will flow in a way that keeps mercury where it should stay instead of certainly sucking it into manifold and pump.
