I plan to try krypton and xenon fill as a safe alternative for cold colors - going to buy raw gases and add transfer valves.
Can anyone around share some experience using them?
Info I found so far from different sources -
- will get limited efficiency, 1/2 to 1/3 of mercury brightness
- nice clean colors with coated tubes
- dim but cool looking discharge in clear tube
- ultimately nice SFX with linear discharges at pressures more than 10mm
- may be used as Ne:Xe mix for economy and better brightness, that is a mix actually used in plasma TVs and special phosphor tubes.
- more bright at low pressures around 1mm and even less, but at price of sputtering.
