Hi Chris!

Thank you for a help!

Is it right that this type of ribbon burners is docile enough and do generally do not require special procedures on lighting and shutdown?

Can you also give general recommendations on how to adjust the mix for the first time? I have zero experience with american style ribbons and for some strange reason many burner manufacturers have strange habit of not giving any instructions to the user. On the Paris workshop we had some different, desktop ribbon burners, possibly european style. They were lighted as a standard burner - gas first, then adding some air, and had no economizer at all. One student managed to cause that thing to flashback, nothing really violent happened, just a loud bang and for some reason white smoke. But considering the amount of gas/air mix inside I do not want to repeat it myself :)

Other doubt is that my burner has 'N' type flame plate for natural gas and there exists (in theory, cause no one have really seen it :) 'A' type plate for propane or may be old artificial gas - no one knows. I will use bottled propane. I remember that already was discussed here and generally agreed that is no problem using 'N' plate for propane gas. Can you confirm?

As for ignitor, I am thinking about cannibalizing controller unit from home boiler. It is even cheaper new than used neon transformer, have small ignition coil and may also contain some useful logic.

Roman.
