For the time period the pricing is probably about right for a semi-mass produced sign used to promote a vehicle. If I remember correctly (and I may not be), when I started in 1977 I was charging $5.00 for a simple repair (new electrodes and a re-pump) and I think $7.50 for something more involved (for example, replacing a letter in an OPEN sign).

Unfortunately I don't think the price of neon has kept pace with inflation over the years.
