neon tubes

Now I must be getting old because for the life
of me I can not remember the solution to the following. Pumped 15mm clear red units.pumped
each unit twice adn they came of the bench red
from one end to the other. 10 minutes later
some of them have gone pinkish in the middle
of the unit. I have had this problem before in
the past , but I can't remember what cause it.
