The fact is, fewer people are buying neon materials these days. EGL has to survive. Another supplier (not EGL) told me privately on the phone selling LED products has fortunately allowed them to continue to offer neon.
EGL loves neon - I've met several folks from there during my 20 year neon career. I've no doubt they would much rather sell neon tubes, electrodes, etc. instead of entering the very saturated and competitive LED-module market.
Not just EGL, but the other mfgs and distributors (Transco, Eurocom, France, Ventex... the list goes on). These folks are all selling LED products too. That doesn't make them traitors.
