I also do similar using 15000/30 on a overnight timer [on and off every 30 min.]

Very true. I have figured out the direction of migration to be clockwise when holding the transformer, label right side up. If I process a unit, age, then dump mercury just past ceramic on tubulated electrode, no further. I then hook that electrode to bottom wire it will not burn completely in. Then I can switch the leads and it will burn in completely.
