single wire electrode

Has anyone ever seen a single wire electrode? I have a Buick Dynaflow Drive neon sign a guy dropped off that has one wire coming out of it and the glass has a label on it that has two unreadable letters in a circle with I believe the number 50 next to it. I am going to scratch off the paint on the electrode and see if the wire splits inside.

Does anyone know anything about how old it is and recognize the possible brand of glass? The glass is very clean, and no stains in the blue.
