I didn't suggest that benders drop their craft all together. I suggested that benders offer LEDs in addition to glass work BECAUSE they are so easy. If a customer comes in to your shop asking for LEDs in a sign. Obviously the first thing you will tell them is that LEDs aren't going to last, they aren't as bright, and they don't save energy. If they insist that LEDs are better, you can sell them LEDs anyway or send them off to another shop. Either way, if you are right, who are they going to come back to when their LED sign breaks? And what kind of sign do you think they are going to want? They will see you as the authority on both LEDs and neon.

I get that neon purists are set in their ways and they have been in the same business doing things the same way for a very long time. It may be impossible for some people in this category to do anything with LEDs. But the alternative to taking control of the LED conversation is a purely defensive, scathing position that will drive people away from neon. It would behoove the whole industry to take a deep breath and admit that LEDs have their place, talk about the useful applications and refute the false claims that they are effective in regular sign applications. It makes you look silly when you say they are completely useless junk, this in its self is a false claim.

I can also understand that you misinterpreted the intent of my first post. It was a shout out against complaining publicly about a problem everyone already knows about, and use better argument tactics, not a call to ditch neon.
