I really don't understand why everyone complaining about LEDs doesn't just go into the LED market themselves. They aren't rocket science to use and require almost no equipment. Plus, by putting yourself in the position of retailer, you would also be in the position to explain major differences between Neon and LEDs directly to the sign shop or the establishment that needs sign repair or fabrication. We all know neon is better, but LEDs have already penetrated the market. Why not take control of the conversation on the effectiveness of LEDs instead of complaining and wishing for the heyday of neon to return.

I know I just opened up a large can of board user hatred, and I could be way off base. But this is seriously a conversation that should be had.
