Steel flat bar

We need to buy some 3/8" steel flat bar for making some old schoool neon sign frames. Can someone tell me what type of alloy I should ask for? Something soft enough to allow us to brake the 90 degree bends at the ends. I'm also looking for a source for the screw protectors that cover the ends of the bars. Any help would be much appreciated.
