First off, I am not making claim that a shop owner don't need insurance. I carry 5 mil on my operations but I am of size and cover several states. Any person wishing to get into this trade should do all the ass covering they can hence it is known that most look for a free meal if they can get it. Lawsuits do happen however, is there any sense in creating a paranoid delusion?

My point is simple. You don’t need to go over kill to the point of putting a warning label on your forehead and a plug in your butt. Insurance salesmen that have a little knowledge in what we do will try to screw us. They see fire and know we use HV to make our products work as intended. With those 2 known we are open to be scammed to highest level over paranoid unknowledgeable idiots.

As a 20 + year veteran to the trade I have yet to see a lawsuit come of a negligent wholesale clients install. You the bender cannot and will not be liable for a clients placement of the glass in the finished product they produce (ie: cracked tabulation). The only liability that your glass will cause you is if you install it personally or a representative of your business does. The wholesaler is liable for anything they sell as an installed finished product, not you.

Insure yourself and your equipment through a reputable source, not an average Joe down the block. Make sure the company you choose fully understands what you do and invite a rep to come see what you are doing so there is no confusion.

@ Stampeder, If you are as big as “Noma” and supply to a market as large as they do, then yes you isure to the max and hire a ton of lawyers to pre-defend your butt. In this instance in this trade you would completely mad to dump a crap ton of money on a 100% ass hugging blanket policy that will drain your bank faster than hiring that lawyer. We make light, not heat a house. We have our inherit issues that can be of concern but we don’t create fires like a product that is a definite heat source.

Heaters are a bad comparison to what we do. If a finished unit heats like such, a bender deserves what comes his way.

Just a general knowledge before hacking away at me since it seems we have never crossed paths before.

1. I am a well educated bender and business owner that has made a life from neon as a choice.

2. I handle an array of neon projects from massive restorations to fitting specialty neon into mansions on the Florida Gold Coast. I don’t work out of my house but I’m an artisan.

3. I come home to a loving well respected corporate litigations attorney.

Please read my posts thoroughly before assuming things.

I’m sorry to have made a burden for you to get up with the couple of “reputable professionals” to answer your questions concerning liability on a “Sunday” for this board topic.
