Such a SIMPLE question Why is it so hard

I am not trying to determine any specific data. I am not trying to spy on the proprietary "SECRET" of how much your fires cost to run. I'm sorry why is this so difficult. I would think that every person here has in the back of their mind some figure that they think it costs to run their fires. I am simply asking for that figure. I'm not asking you to make any calculations or give it much thought simply just tell me what figure comes off the top of your head. The reason I am asking this is becasue I am trying to figure out if an idea I have for saving on gas expense is practical or not. If the typical shop spends hundreds of dollars a month running fires then maybe it would be practical. If they spend only 20 dollars a month then its not practical. There is no hidden secret agenda to spy on you. I was simply trying to get some sense of what the average shop spends. I would think that others would find it of some interest in a trivial sort of way as well. I am not asking you to send the figures to me but to post here so anyone who has even a passing curiousity can see as well. If you all think this question is stupid then I apologize. But I just had this curiosity and if I cant get a simple answer to a simple question about this in this forum then I guess it goes in the big book of unknowns between "why are we here" and "is there really a god" Note the people that responded so far have spent 20 times the effort it would have taken to just simply answer the question trying to find out why I am asking the question or telling me how I should answer the question. A simple response might have gone like this. "Jim from CT. I spend 100 dollars a month on gas, and my fires run about 3 hours a day". Now I ask you is that REALLY so hard?
