You all know that Sloan (which most sign companies use for LED's) has begun to produce a line in inexpensive LED's as they say (cheaper) to compete with the growth of numerous LED's manufacturers cutting their prices to get a slice of the hyped up market over the LED buzz. At las t count from my guess and all the junk mail at my shop, I'd say there are approximately 10 LED manufactures/distributors vying for my business. I am sure there are much more.

Just like neon back in the late 80's 90's when China glass started showing up in beer signs (remember the RED DOG neon signs - how many did you have to fix?) Cheap Wal Mart neon showed up..Sam's club OPEN signs..All junk. Now LED's. I was out of town again, working on neon and came across 2 chain restaurants.. LED strip lighting - out in sections..same with the other only this was that color strip with the LED's inside to look like neon. It was red but faded to pink and white from the sun and weather. Somehow, I am getting warm and fuzzy inside about neon making a come back in a big way!!

It will only be a matter of time. Signs companies refuse to do neon in favor of LED will be getting burnt down the road. There is room for LED's but as I said before it is not a fix all for certain applications in the sign business.
