> been a politician. Peace, DonIn all fairness, the incandescent traffic signal lamps are replaced yearly in red & green sections, and every 2 years in amber. Good LED traffic signal units are good for 10 years, although quality varies, and the power consumption is roughly 1/10th that of incandescent with great savings in maintenance cost as well. A city near me retrofitted two major intersections as a trial about 10 years ago and saved $10K per year in energy cost.
At least this particular application is not displacing much neon.
