Wildbill,

We have used the Matthews Paint System on several restore jobs where the painted tubes needed to be duplicated. This is a trial and error approach but it works nicely for us.

When using the custom mixed Matthews color you will need to thin it out majorly and then dip it with the face up. Once the paint dries you will possibly have to dip it more times till you get the desired depth of color you are looking to match when lighted.

It's a painstaking ordeal just for a small cheap job, but it works well when you have a few units to do. If you make nice cool units the paint holds up for a long time.

Hope this helps,
D
