Re-introduction and looking for a bit of advice :)

Hey all,

My name is Tom and I was once a member here, maybe a few years ago?? Needless to say, I kind of slipped into the ether, along with my job as a bender. I was one of those dudes that worked at one of those shops, you know the shop, its the one that replaced neon with l e d...

Long story short...

Lost neon job, went back to school (it was burley for sure) and studied 3D modeling and animation. Worked in a old school vinyl and hand painted sign shop while I was in school (all the time missing neon). The vinyl shop was cool, but pretty slow and it was just part-time anyways.

Graduated in May, did pretty well, I was happy with that.

Vinyl shop guy laid me off due to lack of work.
Not a $#@@!$$* job to be had anywhere. I'm now 40, no job, and have a fresh new student loan. Sweet.

Fast forward a couple of months, summertime...
Last remaining bender in my part of the state calls me up and invites me over for a beer (we've known each other for nine years, he's a good guy.
Tells me he wants to retire (early 60's) and
HE WANTS TO SELL ME HIS BUSINESS!!1!!

Sweet! I think??!

He has a tiny one man shop (which is awesome) and he does a large bulk of the service work for the greater area, along with the occasional window sign and the increasingly rare channel letter job.
He's not rich by any means, but he gets by and has his business pretty secure.

Shop is a turn key, all set up. The small building is a rental, but its a perfect space (location, brick, converted garage..)
It has fires, a pump station, benches, plex bender, this and that...all pretty clean.

Anyways, I'm thinking I'm going to have a crap-ton of questions for you guys coming up..
This forum has some history and has survived where others have vanished. Thats great to see!...
