My point in starting this post was not to start a bitch and not to mount a claim that LED moans should not be done here.

My point was “CRY CRY the Neon Man” did as it was supposed to do. Make you click with a tinge of self pride to defend. When a man has something to defend as touchingly as his pride, he will read the entire post "letter by letter" and absorb more trying to find a point to fire back on.

My post is on HELP! Something that in the traditional neon shop realm is not found. I have been to numerous shops over the years and came across some complete idiots. An idiot in my book is one that shuts down his fires when another bender enters the building or refuses to have decent shop talk "Mutual Q&A" to better both benders.

We are all in the same boat, we all need work. Some more than others.

The traditional bender attitude of "I know how to do this, I don’t want to help competition by sharing" has killed out several shops even before the LED rush. Educate others, it helps all of us grow as a specialty.

There are several guys and gals out there that have shared with me on techniques and processes. All of the knowledge I have gained from them have made me successful over the years. I don’t cut my prices to beat the other shops in town, I try to make a standard price but go overboard on my customer service and educating others. The secondary is what wins my jobs.

I am waiting to see what type of static I will get once we get the LV site up along with our school pages. I don’t hoard information, I share.
This will go against several traits of the old neon man.

This trade has been damaged for to many years and I refuse to let it twinkle away to a hobby over the next couple of decades.

Like me or not for it, my 24 hr number will still be there to answer questions for anyone.

In the near future, there will be a NO COST online resource since I own neonguys.org.
We are going to setup up the site so that the general public and enthusiasts can gain and share knowledge as there will be areas that are for professionals only. The only cost of being allowed access to the professional area is a scrap of glass and the time to email a photo of your individual “validation request” to a moderator.

I am with several other people on The Neon Group. I do not care for it, even though they have a good mission. It is not setup up for the smaller shops to be affordable membership pricing standpoint.

If we can get the neonguys.org site up and running soon it will hopefully become a decent community for NEON PEOPLE and NEON THINGS. This being said, it’s mission is to preserve and advance ourselves in our trade. There are plenty of other sites out there currently that have neon areas. The sites themselves are focused on the sign industry and all aspects of it.

The initial thoughts of neonguys.org is for commercial benders, artistic benders and neon suppliers only. Not for vinyl, LED vendors, florescent sign construction or any of those vendors. Just to say, before anyone jumps, YES, bitch about the LED’s! When you gripe, others can see what you have came across or learned. Once that information is there, others can start milling a way to top it or be working on something comparable.

From the look of things, especially my inbox there is an overwhelming interest in the LV powered neon and some of the things we do here to make neon a little more competitive. With this in mind, please comment on thoughts of if a site with voted moderators would be good for us all.

Simply, since a lot of us are to smart to pay for high membership dues or just simply out of the budget. This could become a good thing at my cost.
