Hello Sean,

I've been very well, thank you. Rather busy actually, which is why I have not had any time to lurk around the message forums and why I am posting at this hour. (Only so many hours in a day!)

I have to admit though, I'm confused. Your well wishes seem a little contradictory considering the unprovoked snide comments you made about me a couple of months ago on signweb following those of your friend and confidant who makes LED’s. But I know exactly where you are coming from, so it is to be expected.

It is understandable how you and those you work for are feeling threatened lately because of the considerable amount of market share you are losing. So there is a concerted effort being made against the competition to make them look as bad as possible, regardless of whether or not the truth is told about the competitions products. Or have those you have spoken with misinformed me?

But to get back to your post, as "GB" eluded to, other than the basic function of the two gauges, the Transco gauge is constructed differently than EGL's counterpart. For example, unlike the stamped piece of sheet metal used on the EGL gauge for the bezel and housing, the Transco gauge, which is manufactured by Edwards Vacuum, UK, has a heavy cast bezel and housing. And also unlike the EGL gauge, the bezel threads directly onto the housing. The only thing "pressed" on is the needle onto the movement spindle. Moreover, tapping on it with a screwdriver or other tool did not cause the nicks on the bezel. I won't get into details how I know, but I did several pump-down cycles from ATM to hard vacuum, then slowly allowed the pressure to increase beyond the 30 Torr mark to simulate pumping and filling units and the needle never hesitated or "stuck".

I think "GB" covered the other misinformation accurately and factually.

With kind regards,
Mark
