That's a damn good idea, Mark. I used duct tape on mine to seal the edges - that was sort of a mistake, but I have learned to live with it. I think I will try aluminum next time I make one.

I have a 12" x 9" one that I folded and rolled the eges tightly but the strands will still poke.

After having a larger one, I like 18" x 18" -it is much easier to take care of.
