Whoa, guys, relax, I didn't mean to start an argument or anything. Where specifically from the blower the noise emanates is of no importance and there's no need to bicker over semantics.

I tried to post a response to this thread earlier but it didn't go through for some reason. At any rate, Jack King has offered me a good deal on a small regenerative blower which I've accepted, it's not the same one the surplus company is offering. Whatever noise it makes, I'll deal with it. This is not a production shop, just a corner of my garage, and will probably get used for an hour or two in the evenings so I don't anticipate any thermal issues. Space is at a premium as it is shared with many other hobbies and I hope to be able to keep a car in there as well so my goal is to make a compact and portable setup that I can plug into gas and power and go. So long as it doesn't have the deafening scream of a shop vac it should be fine.

Anyway thanks for all the info, I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get things set up.
