If that's the only changes you've made in the way you process tubes (and you had no prior problems), make sure you're getting electrodes hot enough to convert (need to be a BRIGHT cherry red/pumkin orange color). EGL electrodes take a bit more time/current to get to that point than Eurocoms do (at least in my experience).
Slowly dying Neon filled tubes on the verge of going dead become as hot as a pistol, easily frying boots.
