Dana, I have an "old style" manifold with a short space between my 2 stopcocks. I always open the bottom stopcock and evacuate the space between the stopcocks at the beginning of each pumping session. Probably do waste some gas, but I'd rather waste a very small amount of gas than have a tube come back in the hands of a very dis-satisfied customer. I have a wholesale shop, so in essance, I have to satisify 2 customers instead of one. Yes, you may waste some gas, but in my opinion better to lose a little gas than a lot of money. Good Luck, my friend. Don
