Then my hats off to you then Neontek. You are one of the few left that do then. Yes we fabricate new, and yes we shield exposed neon where applicable. Only ONE shop I have ever dealt with would do repairs in a day and he put himself out of business putting his profits up his nose. If you do this, thanks from us out here who need that kind of support.
We have done several "old school" projects and they are beautiful pieces. They are also the lesser part of our neon business and trade. Mostly replacing or repairing terrible glass in channel letters, backlit graphics and border.
We also do restoration work of old signage. Especially one customer with an art deco museum of old period neon signs, cars, etc. I DO NOT HAVE DISDAIN for neon. I have disdain for the way the trade is evolving. Almost every project, we have everything finished waiting for the bender to do his part. I am the one that has to soothe the customer and make his excuses, not him. Same when he does shoddy work. We have given PLENTY of work to neon shops and with most when we do, we are their biggest customer, but they still choose to treat the relationship one sided. So, we are through with it. We can and will do better in-house for what we need and there is no doubt in my mind we can control it as a quality, cost effective and integral commodity as it should be.
