Hey Jan, My primary occupation is in HVAC. I was curious about this myself and tried it with a New pump. The best vacuum I could get was 4 microns measured with an electronic gauge. That was with a new broken-in JB 10cfm pump with fresh oil and warmed-up. The tube would light, was off-color and ran very warm. I do not think these pumps are Tight enough to acheive the kind of vacuum that is needed, but that is just my opinionDennis
