In Response To: Re: LED vs. Neon (John Anderson)

John is correct in his understanding of the usage of neon signs in our city. Our city does allow neon signs. The laws were based on the neons signs because the usage of LED's at that time were not commonly used. The law was designed to control the sq footage a neon sign could be placed in a single window pane. They recognized the positive qualities of these types of signs, but also recognize the possible negative/abuse that individuals could create suing such signage.
Currently, the neon sign law is in effect. However, since the law does not address LED signs, these signs are not governed by the law. Therefore, you have the neon signs being restricted according to the law and the LED signs doing whatever they want to do.
