This is a good idea considering that if all states were to take the route of Vermont, it would likely put a dent in everyone that has ever read this board.

Even Vermont's law summary states, there are far worse producers that have yet to be banned from existence.

If you read what different states are doing in their reduction programs, it is evident there is too much mis-information about what we specifically do.

I found this item I will paraphrase from a report made by one state:

"We have found no in-state manufacturers that add elemental mercury during their process."

This (I am pretty certain)refers to those who would add mercury to a product they are making in their factory. As opposed to a thermostat maker who might buy a mercury switch and assemble a product.

I hate to add more regulation, but the alternative knee-jerk is worse. Education is possibly the sanest solution on both sides.

Vermont's legislation has placed mercury-added fluorescent tubes in a 'phase-out' mentality applied to several well-deserving products such as light-up kid's shoes (containing a mercury switch) and other vibration-sensing novelty items that end up in a kid's hands.

Mercury-added sign tubing should not belong to such a group.
