I think what mark is saying ( seeing as youve had no response) is that there are many whites available on the neon market. it seems to have become industry standard to just use the brightest, harshest white you can. when i did my apprenticeship 20 years ago we never used 6500 - it was too harsh and bluish. But if you look at the colour spectrum its quite obvious that a certain white is more suitable to a particular colour. For example, a deep yellow or orange face would be better suited to a warm white. For orange - maybe even 2800K. pure white faces may be best suited to say 6500. We always went under that so you could detect illumination during daylight also. The problem arises when you have say a blue face with opal sides - you need to illuminate the blue without having a pinstripe on the sides, not always possible, a dark blue face, opal sides - sometimes in this sort of case its sometimes best to have a thin neon stripe throughout the centre trying to keep away from the sides as much as possible. As a neon bender though - youll know that half the time your colour is dictated by say an architect who just wont listen!!!!!
